Winter might be on the way but that doesn’t mean you have to look as washed out as the weather.

At Pure-Beauty we love it when the leaves change colour and we can pop out for hot chocolate after a walk in the park.

We have put together some easy to follow beauty tips that will make you glow as bright as the autumn leaves and pretty sunset.

To keep your skin plumped and totally hydrated, trying massaging it every day. Not only will this cleanse your face and rid it of make-up and dirt, but it will also help stimulate collagen and drain toxins so you look as fresh as the morning snow. Who knew?

As the sun fades, try using a concealer that is the same shade as your skin. Many of us go lighter but this can actually make you look as you have been skiing and left your goggles on! For the best results, tip your head down and look straight into the mirror, as this will expose the dark areas you want to work on. Apply make up with a good quality, clean, pointed brush and gently smooth with your ring finger.

Once you have perfected your foundation and concealer, next you ideally need to use a powder to keep things in place all day, or evening, long. To get the best coverage, use smooth, sweeping strokes across puffed out cheeks and whilst you might look funny it will allow for a natural finish and the powder won’t settle in fine lines and age you.

If you are getting ready in a rush, it can be easy to over do the blusher and look doll-like. Don’t panic and wash it all off and start again. Instead, simply apply a little more foundation over the checks and blend the mistakes away. Magic!

Mascara can transform any look but so can a smudge. Don’t wipe your face clean, however bad the lines are, instead put a little eye cream on a cotton bud and gently wipe away the excess mascara and start again.

Cotton buds can also be a life-saver when it comes to a home mani or pedi. We all make the odd mistake here and there, but if you dip a bud in remover and carefully work around the nail, you’ll create perfection in no time at all. Always remember to go for two coats of colour and a top-coat if you’re looking for a professional finish that will last.

Go for a moisturising lipstick that brightens your skin and makes your eyes really stand out even on the dullest of rainy days.

Rather than constantly putting your hair under the strain of straighteners, why not create waves and volume the natural way? Shampoo and condition your locks and towel dry. Then twist strands of your hair and pin up your head. Sleep with the pins in and by morning your hair will be clean, bouncy and healthy.

Keep a lip balm and hand cream in your bag at all times and you will be able to keep the cold from irritating your extremities.

Beauty doesn’t stop as you sleep you know. After you cleanse, tone and moisturise, why not snooze on a silk pillow?   1. Thou shalt not sleep in make-up

We all know how easy it would be to slip into bed without removing our make-up and daily grime from our face but it’s really not good for your skin. Keep some Dermalogica Skin Purifying Wipes on your nightstand for times when minimal effort and maximum results are needed.

  1. Thou shalt not keep out-of-date products

It might seem tempting to keep things for as long as possible, especially when you’ve invested in high-end products, but all products have a shelf life (usually printed on the bottle inside a triangle) and using them after this time could be potentially harmful.

  1. Thou shalt MOISTURISE

Even if you have oily skin, you still need to use a moisturising product to rebalance your skin. Find one which is specific to your skin type and use it as often as you feel necessary.

If you didn’t know already, October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Breast Cancer Care research has shown that nearly 60,000 people are diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK every year.

That’s the equivalent of one person every 10 minutes, with 1 in 8 women in the UK expected to develop breast cancer during their lives.

That is quite a number, so we want to make sure you know the facts so you can be breast healthy and aware of your own body.

First of all, let’s look at who, statistically, is most susceptible to breast cancer:

First of all, woman are most at risk factor of developing breast cancer.

Secondly whilst we hear of young cases in the media, actually the older you are, the more at risk you are of developing the disease. Over 80% of breast cancer cases are diagnosed in women over 50 and if men have the disease, they are most likely to be aged 60 over.

A family history can be another factor but this isn’t common and around just 5% of those diagnosed with breast cancer have the BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene.

Whilst these are the most at risk cases, the reality is that breast cancer can happen to anyone and anytime.

Bearing this in mind do you really know what breast cancer is?

Well, in the simplest of terms it happens when cells in the breast divide and grow in an abnormal way. This can happen for a number of reasons (including those above) or can be due to a combination of factors, some of which we can’t control.

The are several types of breast cancer, which can be diagnosed at different stages, and each case grows at different rates. As no two patients are the same, no two treatments plans are either.

From today, why not start to check your breasts regularly?

Once you start you will soon know what feels normal and therefore it will be easier to notice if something feels, or looks, different.

You can check them in the bath or shower, after you have exercised, when you get dressed or as you use moisturisers or body lotions.

Is it important to check all parts of your breast including your armpits and up to your collarbone and the changes you are really looing for include:

A change in size or shape of your breasts
A lump or thickening of tissue that feels different from the rest of the breast
Redness or a rash on the skin and/or around the nipple
Any changes in your breast skin texture such as puckering or dimpling
Look out for a liquid discharge from the nipple that occurs even when you don’t squeeze
Nipples becoming inverted or changing in shape or position
A swelling in your armpit or around your collarbone
A constant pain in your breast or armpit

Whilst most changes will be innocent, if you do find something you are worried about go and see your GP as soon as you can. The worst thing you can do is worry and suffer in silence. There’s a good chance of recovery if cancer is detected in the early stages and there is some incredible support out there if it’s the new you didn’t want to hear.

Chances are, it won’t be anything at all, but be breast aware and have peace of mind.

5 Surprising Reasons for Spots We all know that there are certain things which cause spots, like weather changes and hormones changes which are basically just a fact of life and have to be dealt with as and when they happen. However, there are quite a few totally avoidable reasons for spots which may not have even occurred to you, so we thought we’d take a look at those reasons and allow you to be pre-armed and forewarned.

  1. Your Make-Up

Using make-up with is ‘non-comedogenic’ is basically the only way to ensure that your make-up will never cause you spots because this literally means that it doesn’t clog your pores. Other than that, making sure that you wash your face really thoroughly at the end of the day is the only remedy.   1. Your Bed
