If you’re lucky enough to be planning to go travelling this summer, you’re probably already going to be thinking about what you plan to pack in your bag. When doing long-term travel, space is at a premium in your cases or backpack and while you want to make sure you have the essential and stay looking good for as long as possible, taking the entire contents of your bathroom cabinet with you just isn’t practical. Today, we’re looking at which products you should consider packing for your backpacking trip so that you have everything you need, without going overboard!

Hair

Unless you’ve got closely cropped hair, remembering to take hair bands and clips is an absolute MUST, because you will want to put your hair up at some point in your trip. In terms of keeping your hair clean and in good condition, we strongly suggest you switch to co-washing – which is short for “conditioner-only washing.” It means skipping shampoo and relying solely on conditioner, whether you’re a daily or a weekly washer. This means that at a bare minimum, you’ll only need to pack Dermalogica Daily Conditioning Rinse in order to keep your hair looking fab while you travel.

Body

Washing while travelling can be tricky, and you’ll probably find yourself getting clean in a few less-than-spa-like places! Taking something like Dermalogica Conditioning Body Wash means that your skin won’t dry out, so unless you have super-dry skin, you’ll be able to forego the moisturiser stage. You will, however, need to take sunscreen with you, so opting for a multi-functional product like Decleor Protective Hydrating Milk SPF30 Body while you’re away will mean that your skin gets a wash of hydration while you protect yourself from the sun.

Face

Let’s face it, a fifteen step Korean skincare regime just isn’t going to be practical if you’re living out of a suitcase for weeks on end, so the key to packing for your skin is to keep the steps to a minimum and find as many multi-functional products as possible. If you’re lucky enough to have ‘normal’ skin, we’d recommend just a simple cleanser, such as Elemis Soothing Chamomile Cleanser and a moisturiser with built-in SPF, like Decleor Protective Anti-Wrinkle Cream SPF30 Face.

Bonus

As a bonus, we thought we’d also tell you about Elemis Tea Tree S.O.S. Spray, as we think this is an absolute must-have when travelling. It’s a spray containing Australian tea tree essential oil in purified water. Tea tree oil is nature’s own antiseptic, having powerful anti-bacterial and antiviral properties, and it can be used to deodorise the feet or treat fungal infections, treating bug bites, cleaning cuts and spots or even for helping to heal spots. It’s one of those products that once you buy it, you’ll end up using it for everything!
