We’ve curated a list of  essential tips and tricks to effectively care for your hair post-holiday. Get ready to restore and nourish your tresses back to their healthy and vibrant state, especially as we’re offering 20% off of all haircare from 30th June!

Deep Cleansing and Clarifying

Start your post-summer hair care routine by thoroughly cleansing your hair and scalp. Overexposure to sun, saltwater, chlorine, and styling products can lead to build-up and residue. Use a clarifying shampoo, such as Olaplex No.4C Bond Maintenance Clarifying Shampoo, to remove any impurities and product build-up, giving your hair a fresh start. Follow with a moisturising conditioner, like Elemis Revitalise-Me Conditioner, to restore hydration and improve manageability. Consider using a hair mask or deep conditioning treatment to provide extra nourishment and repair any damage caused by the elements.

Trim Split Ends

Summer activities can cause split ends, making your hair look frizzy and unhealthy. Schedule a trim with your hairstylist to remove any split ends and revitalise your hair’s appearance. Regular trims promote hair growth and prevent further splitting, ensuring that your hair looks healthier and more vibrant.

Hydrate and Moisturise

After sun exposure and water activities, your hair can become dehydrated and prone to breakage. Restore moisture by incorporating hydrating and nourishing hair products into your routine. Look for conditioners and leave-in treatments that contain ingredients like shea butter, argan oil, or coconut oil, such as Moroccanoil Intense Hydrating Mask, which provide deep hydration and help repair damaged strands. Apply a few drops of hair oil to the ends to seal in moisture and add shine.

Minimise Heat Styling

Give your hair a break from excessive heat styling tools, such as flat irons and curling wands, after your summer holiday. Heat can further damage already compromised hair. Instead, embrace natural hairstyles or opt for heat-free alternatives like braids or air-drying. If you must use heat styling tools, apply a heat protectant spray, for instance GHD Bodyguard-Heat Protect Spray, beforehand to minimise damage and always use the lowest heat setting possible.

Protect from UV Rays

Even after your vacation, it’s crucial to protect your hair from the harmful effects of UV rays. Wear a hat or scarf when spending extended periods in the sun to shield your hair and scalp. Additionally, use hair products with UV filters like Color Wow Pop and Lock High Gloss Finish or spritz on a leave-in sunscreen specifically designed for hair. These protective measures will prevent colour fading, dryness, and potential damage caused by prolonged sun exposure.

Maintain a Balanced Diet

A healthy diet plays a significant role in maintaining beautiful and strong hair. Ensure you’re consuming a balanced diet rich in vitamins, minerals, and proteins. Include foods like fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and omega-3 fatty acids, which promote hair health and growth. Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water to keep your hair hydrated from the inside out and take a good multivitamin to bolster your diet.
