The salon is 5 Years old on the 7th of October. That's five years here at Porchways House. Wow! It has gone by so fast. Five years ago Natasha and Craig opened the doors to welcome Natasha's Clients New and Old and five years ago The Nail Room opened with my Old and New Clients too!

Dealing With Acne in Autumn and Winter

Something which seems to be really common with acne sufferers is that their skin is actually much better during the Spring and Summer than it is in Autumn and Winter. This is usually to do with a number of factors, such as the fact that sun exposure seems to help and central heating seems to exacerbate things. With Autumn setting in and Winter not far off, we thought we'd take a look at some of our most effective acne-fighting products to help you at this time of year.

There's more to cucumber than sandwiches

While the humble cucumber is often only seen as an afternoon tea afterthought or an extra in a smoothie when the fridge is running low, it is actually jam-packed (excuse the pun) with natural goodness that can really benefit our skin. The flesh might mainly be water, but it is also home to Vitamin C and caffeic acid, which both help reduce inflamed and irritated skin. The peel is often sliced away before being laid on top of ham for sandwiches, but this contains silica, which can firm sagging skin and because cucumbers are 100% natural, even people with the most sensitive skin can usually incorporate this into their beauty routine.
