What to wear this Christmas

There is nothing worse than getting ready for a Christmas party only to breakdown because nothing fits or looks right.

Along with presents, politics and the turkey, fashion during the festive season can add to our stress levels and bring out the worse in us.

We have put together some fail safe ideas so you can shower, dress and go whatever the occasion.

The Office Party
It can be a tricky one to navigate the ‘work do’ because you want to look good but it is still work and there needs to be an element of professionalism. Matching dark denim with a red ruffle top and on trend sock-style ankle boots, makes a statement that you know your fashion looks but aren’t flashing too much flesh. Add a velvet beaded bag and a pearl sunburst ring to a plain black dress, and you’ll be good to go. A pencil skirt and simple tee with boots work well and as the temperature drops, you’ll find a cape will save your skin.

The Christmas Ball
If you have a fancy black tie event to go, the shops are full of gorgeous dresses that will make you the belle of the ball. From High Street favourites to designer one-offs being sold on eBay, you can look fabulous whatever your budget. A crushed velvet skirt can be worn with a silk body, a sleek jumpsuit is a great alternative to a dress as it is super flattering and will smooth your figure and allow you to dance the night away if you pair with pumps.

Drinks with the Girls
This is your time to sparkle and shine. Fitted black trousers with a simple metallic bodysuit and black courts is a sure-fire win. Match over-the-knee boots with a midnight blue dress or go for a vampy maxi with attention-grabbing sleeves and a pair of silver boots and you will be ready to party.

The Carol Service
A velvet dress with kitten heels are perfect when you are singing Away in a Manager. Rich mustards, maroons and reds are all top of the list this season and are easy to dress up or down to suit the occasion. It will be chilly so keep warm with super luxurious scarf, with navy offering an air of sophistication and grey, pale pink and mink are all options if you want to switch things up a little more.

Christmas Day
There are no hard and fast style rules for the big day but you do need to be comfortable and able to breathe! A crushed velvet skirt with crisp shirt is the right side of smart, jeans and a leopard print top ticks the hipster list or if you are at home with you and yours, stay in your PJs and slippers but just watch which photos you add to social media as thermals might not cut it on Insta!

New Year’s Eve
If you want to see 2017 out in style, you can’t go wrong with a classic black dress and heels. From figure hugging floor length gowns to endless ruffles and gold embellished shifts, the shops are full of beautiful dresses that will make you stand out from the crowd.

Whatever you do this Christmas, have fun, feel your best and be safe.
